INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY OF PRAYER

Since 1990, the Department of Women’s Ministries at the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists has promoted a special day when women have the opportunity to strengthen their spiritual bonds as they pray for and with each other. The International Women’s Day of Prayer is the first Sabbath of each March.

In past years this special day has been celebrated in a variety of ways: prayer breakfasts, fasting and prayer, consecration services, women preaching the sermons for church services and other special programs. A resource manual, with ideas and a planning guide for making this a life-changing day for women and men in the church, can be obtained from the conference Women’s Ministries director.

The International Woman’s Day of Prayer provides an opportunity for women to learn about each other and prayer for one another. It is a time to reunite with God and one another to strengthen spiritual bonds. Prayers for women everywhere create a spiritual network of empathy and understanding between Adventist women. Thousands of women (and men) gather to pray on this day. Although the essential purpose of the day is for prayer, the day can also provide women with an opportunity to strengthen their ties with other Christian women as they pray together.

Where possible some may want to expand the day of prayer to include a weekend prayer conference where participants can come to gain a deeper understanding of the need for prayer, and prayer’s significance, blessings, and meaning in their lives. Weekend prayer conferences can address topics of interest such as: the prayer of scripture, how to pray scriptural promises, how fasting can enhance our prayer life, God’s will and prayer, intercessory prayer, answered and unanswered prayer, closet prayers, and how to help our children develop a prayer life of their own.

Book Recommendation

As I have traveled around the Texas Conference, it has been such a pleasure to meet so many of you.

If you are the Women’s Ministries leader for your local Texas Conference church and are not on my email list, please email me at WMEnglish@txsda.org so we can keep in touch.

As we see the signs that our savior JESUS is about to return, ladies, let’s roll up our sleeves and get this work done as how only GOD’S daughters of Ophir can.

Women's Ministries
Hello beautiful ladies of the Texas Conference,

As the long hot days of summer drag on, you undoubtedly look anxiously to cooler temperatures. To some of you, the external temperature seems almost like winter compared to the raging, volcanic eruptions taking place on the inside of you, specifically your mind!

The seemingly impossible tasks at work, conflicts in the home, division at church, all when combined with wars, famine, disasters of every kind, violence and carnage, makes you want to crawl back into bed until a good day decides to show up.

In spite of our walk with GOD, if the truth is to be told, we would prefer an entrance into heaven without the drama and pain, that seems to pervade our tiny little planet.

More and more, no one seems to escape the pangs of anxiety and worry; ok, let’s be honest, temporary depression. Even seasoned Christians and prayer warriors seem to be losing their faith and fight, in this evil, maligned world.

What are we to do? James 1:4 reminds us “to let patience have her perfect work, that you may be perfect, and entire, (complete) wanting nothing.”

When you are in a trial, you may feel as if you will never get through it.  Remember that GOD, in HIS love for you, will never abandon you! JESUS weighed the circumstances of your trial before it got to you, in order that you may be able to bear it.

The testing of our faith works to make sure that we are ready and completely qualified to become bullet proof against all the enemy’s assaults.

GOD does not delight in your suffering or pain any more than what HIS own son JESUS Christ was permitted to bear in Gethsemane’s garden, Pilate’s judgment hall and Calvary’s cross.

The enemy seeks to test our loyalty to GOD yet, even through those painful moments, GOD stands near to ensure we are not completely knocked out of the boxing ring with one of satan’s TKOs.

So, count it all joy my dear sisters as “the working of your trial” is really intended to make you perfect, in JESUS Christ.

No, I’m not saying to pretend you’re not hurting, but claim the promises of GOD and continue to cling to the hope that is found in Christ. In the words of the apostle Paul “count it light affliction.”

The HOLY Bible gives us hope, in knowing that sin is soon to come to its end and all the things you went through and endured in JESUS name will work together for your good because you love and trusted GOD!

Stay blessed,  beautiful and faith filled, my dear sisters!

Warm regards always,
Sandy Mars
