Alvarado English Builds New Facility

Alvarado Seventh-day Adventist Church in north Texas is ready to build a new facility. God has been answering prayers and opening doors, and after years of planning and several delays, the project is now under way! “We are moving in faith, trusting our God that He will help us to succeed,” said Valeri Tchounkovskii, Alvarado church pastor, referring to Nehemiah 2:20.

In 1976, several families from Keene, Tex., started a branch Sabbath School that eventually formed an official congregation. After deciding to build a church, members poured the slab in December of 1978, then added a fellowship hall to the new building in 1979. In 1993, they built the current gym in order to have a church school.

One of the founding members, Jean Bruce, said, “I am so excited to see how this church has grown and am looking forward to the much-needed new facility.” It will have a seating capacity of 200 and be built between the existing old church building and the gym.

Building Committee Chair Don Bowersox stated, “We look forward to working with Maranatha Volunteers International, who will help us frame the structure May 14-28, 2023. They are asking us to assemble a team of skilled volunteers for our project, so we are appealing to anyone in the area who, like me, would want to help Maranatha and the Alvarado Seventh-day Adventist Church.”

“It is extremely exciting that our church will have the privilege and opportunity to work and build with Maranatha,” Building Committee member Bobby Bullion shared. “I look forward to gaining valuable information and advice from a Christian organization that has already experienced the success of building numerous churches. I plan to join as a volunteer to assist with future church builds to enrich God’s kingdom.”

Head Elder Terry Spradlin referred to Hebrews 10:36 when he said, “We need to put God before ourselves and step back, walking in faith, to see how flawlessly He moves.”

In addition to prayers and financial support, the congregation needs volunteers to help provide three meals a day for the builders.

Friends, if you want to spread God’s light in Alvarado and help on a Maranatha project, we would love to have you partner with us! Contact Don Bowersox at 817.219.3722 or loriboxersox@yahoo.com or email Chuck Easley at chuck.easley@yahoo.com for more information.

Please note: The project was delayed, so there is still time to help.
