The Texas Conference of Seventh-day Adventists Prayer Ministries team believes that people matter, prayer matters and praying together for each other matters to God.
On January 11 to 21, 2023, we adapted the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists’ 10 Days of Prayer theme, Back to the Altar, and concluded it with a 24-hour prayer vigil, Let Our Prayers Arise, via Zoom with three live sessions.
Both in English and in Spanish, we experienced God’s power and presence in a profound way as we gathered each night encouraged by the word, testimonies and prayer. Many of the participants testified that the experience of praying together consistently was a transformative experience and created a deeper thirst to be in God’s presence. In their lives, God did “exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think,” Ephesians 3:20 NKJV.
During 2023, there will be three more 10 Days of Prayer seasons, one each quarter: April 5-15, 2023, July 5-15, 2023, and October 4-14, 2023.
As a Texas Conference family, we are striving to make the prayer request of John 17:21 and these special seasons of prayer consistent with our J17:21 Together as One prayer initiative.
Beginning the month of February, the Standing in the Gap initiative will begin as we intercede on behalf of the 10 areas of the Texas Conference, one area per month. The first Monday night of each month, starting Monday, February 6, 2023, we will gather via Zoom at 7:00 p.m. to pray for the area designated for that month.
Using the Texas Conference Interactive Prayer Map as our guide, we will pray for each pastor and congregation by name at 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.
To continue our prayer strategy, on August 25-26, 2023, a virtual Prayer Conference, “How Shall We Pray Then,” is scheduled to keep our energy and focus on the power of prayer and sharing God’s love with others.
As this prayer movement begins to grow, we encourage members, leaders and churches to join the Texas Conference Prayer Ministries team. We believe as we pray together, God will move in mighty, marvelous and miraculous ways throughout our churches, communities and the Texas Conference.
