New Year, No Worries

New Year, No Worries
2022 Monthly Desk Calendar: January

Possibly you, like many other people, are planning your goals and resolutions for this year. If so, do not forget to put them into the hands of God. Proverbs 16:3 NIV says, “Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and He will establish your plans.”

In this verse, we see that God will give us peace of mind and will establish our plans at the perfect time. As human beings, we often worry too much about what we will do in our day, especially in the future. But the word of God says, “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?” Matthew 6:25 NKJV.

I understand that it is not easy for us to not worry about tomorrow. But understand that not worrying doesn’t mean not planning. God asks us to put our lives and cares into His hands, but that doesn’t mean you can’t make any plans. That would be foolish and irresponsible.

Of course, some things are not within our reach, and with that, we need God’s action. If you believe in the Creator God, you must also believe in the Provider God. He tells us later, “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you,” Matthew 6:33 NKJV. By focusing more on the matters of the kingdom of heaven, God will provide us with the necessary tools to continue doing what He has told us to do.

Martin Luther once said, “I have held many things in my hands, and I have lost them all; but whatever I have placed in God’s hands, that I still possess.”

When we entrust our intentions and activities to the Lord, we are saying, “Not my will, Father, but Yours be done,” just as Jesus did.
