OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM TEXAS CONFERENCE

Our hearts have been broken once again because of the acts of violence that grip our state. To our brothers and sisters in Uvalde, Texas, and families of students that attended the Robb Elementary school, know that as you mourn, we mourn; as you hurt, we hurt; and as you rebuild and move forward, we are here to hold your hands and dry your tears.

We also hold inside the hope of a day when there will be no more violence, hate, and death; when our Savior Jesus Christ will return, and the dark cloud and stronghold of evil will forever be broken. We have this hope!

Until then, we will join you and other citizens in actively working healing and comfort to our communities. We long to see the realization of the words of the old song, “Let there be peace on Earth, and let it begin with me.” We are praying for you and with you during these dark days.

Elton DeMoraes, DMin, is the president of the Texas Conference of Seventh-day Adventists.
