Texas Conference Adventist Community Services Brings Relief and Hope to Kerrville Community Following Recent Disaster

Kerrville, TX — July 8, 2025 — In response to the recent disaster impacting the Kerrville area, Texas Conference Adventist Community Services (ACS) has mobilized to provide critical support and supplies. Team members delivered essential items to the local church, where they were warmly welcomed by Pastor Illingworth and the Pathfinder Club, who immediately began distributing the much-needed supplies throughout the community.

While in town, the team also established a key connection with the State Regional Voluntary Agency Liaison, enhancing coordination for ongoing and future relief efforts.

On Thursday morning, ACS will deploy its mobile disaster unit in the Walmart parking lot in Kerrville. This unit is equipped to serve up to 2,000 individuals, offering clothing, hygiene kits, blankets, diapers, and wipes. Preparations are underway to ensure the unit is fully stocked and ready to meet the community’s needs.

“We are committed to working hand-in-hand with local officials to determine the most effective ways we can serve,” said Bo Gendke, Director for Texas Conference ACS.

To support the next phase of recovery, a volunteer sign-up page has been launched to coordinate efforts for debris removal and home cleanup. Once clearance is given, trained volunteers—including experienced Master Guides who previously served during Hurricane Harvey—will be ready to assist with mucking and gutting homes.

Additionally, 500 cleanup buckets are on order to further support the community’s recovery efforts.

While the schedule for Emotional & Spiritual Care is still being finalized, ACS assures the community that compassionate support will be available throughout the recovery process.

Texas Conference Statement on the Kerrville Flooding – Posted July 5, 2025

This week, our hearts are heavy as we witness the devastating flooding that has impacted Kerrville and the surrounding areas of Kerr County. The rising waters of the Guadalupe River have brought destruction, loss, and deep sorrow to many families and communities. Reports confirm multiple fatalities, missing persons—including children from a local summer camp—and widespread evacuations.

While we are grateful to report that none of our Texas Conference churches in the area have sustained damage, we are deeply mindful of the suffering experienced by our neighbors. As a faith community, we are called to stand with those in crisis—not only in prayer but in action.

We extend our heartfelt prayers to the families who have lost loved ones, to those still searching for missing persons, and to the first responders working tirelessly in dangerous conditions. We also offer our support and resources to assist in recovery efforts as needs are identified. Our Adventist Community Services teams are on alert and ready to respond where help is most needed.

Let us continue to lift up the Kerrville community in our prayers and remain attentive to how we can be the hands and feet of Jesus during this time of hardship.

In Christ’s service,

Elton DeMoraes, president
Texas Conference of Seventh-day Adventists
